JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:          Children’s Ministry Catalyzer                   

Department:     Faith Formation Ministries (FFM)           

Status:             Part time--8-15 hours per week

 

 

 

PURPOSE

The Children’s Ministry Catalyzer will develop and maintain support systems for congregational children’s ministry in the CRCNA. Together with the FFM resource team and FFM’s regional catalyzers, the children’s ministry catalyzer will network with congregational leaders and classis leadership teams to provide the strongest possible supports for congregational children’s ministry.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:

  1. Develop and maintain strong, supportive coaching relationships with congregational CRC children’s ministry leaders.
  2. With FFM’s Resource Team, support the local church in casting a vision for the faith formation of children.
  3. Create supportive resources for children's ministry leaders as needed (for example a coordinator e-newsletter)
  4. Develop and lead training workshops on children’s ministry topics.
  5. Work in tandem with Ministry Support Services’ Marketing and Customer Service teams to support Faith Alive children’s ministry curricula.
  6. Encourage and equip CRC children's ministry leaders to nurture the faith of children using resources that align with Reformed theology and providing support to leaders regardless of the curriculum they choose.
  7. Work with FFM’s resource team to seek, develop, and share excellent children’s resources.
  8. Serve on other FFM teams as mutually decided.

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

 

  1. Membership in a Christian church and agreement with the doctrine of the CRC signified by signing a covenant statement.
  2. Understanding of children’s ministry dynamics and pedagogy.
  3. Commitment to Reformed theology in children's curriculum and faith formation.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Willingness to travel occasionally.
  6. Faithfully exemplifying a strong, vibrant, personal Christian faith marked by spiritual humility and moral integrity.
  7. Demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of God’s mission in North America through the church and reconciliation ministry in diverse, racial, and ethnic communities.
  8. Demonstrated interpersonal, relational, and teamwork skills.

Additional Information

  1. Relevant Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent professional training and experience.
  2. A minimum of five years experience related to children’s ministry.
