Resonate Global Mission, a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church in North America has a full-time international position opening for Teacher at the Warari Bible School (WBS), a multi-denominational Bible School in Niger State. This position will seek to train and develop leadership for the churches working in the region.  The Warari Bible School teacher will teach and support the efforts of the school to impact the region for Christ.

Step #1
Missionary Candidate:  The purpose of this position is to prepare for international service by building a network of prayer, care and financial support in North America that will enable future ministry. Ordinarily, this will progress from part-time to full-time as the support network grows through the work of the candidate and the missionary support team that is designed for this purpose.  One can expect to be in this role for 6 to 12 months, depending on how quickly the support network comes together. The current pay for this step is $19.82 US or $23.23 CND on the CRCNA Domestic scale.

 

Step #2
Missionary in Training: The purpose of this role is to develop language and culture skills, ministry skills and relationships that will enable future ministry, and begin to use those in ministry.  Ordinarily, one can expect to be in this role for 6 to 18 months, depending on prior background and experience. Salary information available upon request from CRCNA Human Resources.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:

  1. Teaching and mentoring
    a.  Teach classes as assigned by the Warari Bible School Principal.
    b.  Mentor the students of WBS as they grow in the Christian walk and leadership skills.
    c.  Lead on-campus chapel and Sunday services at WBS as requested.
  2. Development and Support of WBS
    a.  Fulfill all duties at WBS as assigned by the Principal.
    b.  Assist in the development and revision of WBS Hausa and English curriculum.
  3. Local Evangelism
    a.  Preach in local churches and participate in other local ministries as invited and as time permits.
    b.  In conjunction with other WBS staff, plan, coordinate and implement evangelism activities of WBS students and staff to area villages.
  4. Participate in support-raising (e.g., prayer, care and financial support - at least 90% of the average cost of a missionary) for CRWM ministries by developing and maintaining a network of supporting churches and individuals.
  5. Ensure notes of thanks are sent to donors in a timely manner.
  6. Educate the CRCNA and others about the nature of the global church and its mission, encouraging them to develop a deeper passion and involvement in global missions.
  7. Provide the CRCNA with insight and resources for ministry among minority racial/national/religious groups living in North America about which the missionary has knowledge and expertise.
  8. Communicate the nature and value of CRWM’s ministries to the CRCNA and others through written communications, and through preaching/speaking engagements.

Qualifications

  1. Professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation, or of a church in ecclesiastical fellowship with the CRCNA, and agreement with the doctrine of the church signified by signing a covenant statement.
  2. Passion for education and leadership development
  3. Demonstrated ability to work with others from different cultures and religious traditions
  4. Demonstrated intercultural competence including good observation and listening skills
  5. Proven administrative and organizational skills
  6. Aptitude for training others
  7. Previous teaching experience preferred

Additional Information

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required; Master’s degree in Education, or related field, preferred
  2. Experience in Biblical teaching
  3. Experience with integrating faith into subject content areas
  4. Training in and an appreciation for cross-cultural ministry
