Overview

The Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) has a full-time (40 hrs/wk) opening for a Communications Specialist in our Grand Rapids, Michigan offices. This position will administer the endorsement process, oversee the communications efforts, serve as a resource for internal and external communications and provide administrative support for the Office of Chaplaincy and Care.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following:

  1. Administer the denominational endorsement process and its five-year renewal requirements.
  2. Develop relationships with prospective, active, and retired chaplaincy staff through phone, email, and in face to face meeting
  3. Coordinate, prepare and edit formal and informal communication materials
  4. Collaborate in the development of donor relations for the encouragement and training of future chaplains.
  5. Oversee all aspects of annual conference (e.g., research and choose venues, arrange travel and transportation of attendees, collect and organize event material and other necessary logistics).
  6. Ensure that information is correct and up to date web-site
  7. Monitor, maintain, and update social media pages  and chaplaincy website
  8. Provide administrative support including responding to inquiries, accurate and efficient filing, preparing invoices and expense reports, organizing travel arrangement, organizing meeting agenda and minutes, scheduling appointment, etc.
  9. Mutual collaboration within Congregational Services for administrative and communication tasks.
  10. Other duties as assigned by the director

Qualifications

  1. Able to support the mission, vision and values of the CRCNA.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience in writing.
  3. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  4. Excellent event planning skills.
  5. Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures preferred.
  6. Proven ability to be self-motivated, work independently with minimal direction and collaboratively within a team environment.
  7. Proven ability to plan and organize tasks and responsibilities including multitasking, setting priorities and deadlines, etc. and very attentive to detail.
  8. Advanced proficiency in commonly used computer applications including virtual meeting software.
  9. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with co-workers and external contacts.

Additional Information

  1. Some college coursework required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. At least two years of writing content, including two years of experience in an office environment.
