Back to God Ministries International, an agency of the Christian Reformed Church in North America has a full-time (40 hrs/wk) position opening for a Director of Administration in the Grand Rapids offices. The position will provide administrative leadership in the day-to-day functions of the agency, including finances, operations, and oversight of media ministries. The Director of Administration works closely with the Director and BTGMI staff to translate the ministry’s vision into a framework of plans and actions which helps the agency achieve its goals of using media in ministry.

Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Represent agency finances in the denominational structure and in the governance structure
  2. Oversee internal accounting processes and procedures
  3. Oversee  external financial reporting and registrations
  4. Oversee the maintenance, upkeep and security of the assets of the organization
  5. Review financial reports from and provide financial input to the international ministry offices
  6. Oversee and lead the annual budget process with senior leadership
  7. Develop a capital budget for the agency
  8. Review financial information and adjust operational budgets as needed
  9. Manage agency partnerships with other ministries and vendors nationally and internationally
  10. Review and sign vendor contracts on behalf of the agency
  11. Ensure appropriate systems are in place for financial planning, monitoring and control of agency finances
  12. Assist the Director in managing and developing ministries and projects
  13. Assist the Director in developing annual and long-term strategic plans
  14. Manage the assessment cycle of departments and ministries
  15. Manage the onsite audio studio
  16. Work with central service departments to ensure staff work within overall policies and procedures of CRCNA
  17. Work to continuously improve agency systems in conjunction with central service departments
  18. Serve on the advancement team by providing general input in connecting advancement with the overall ministry
  19. Coordinate with Director to make decisions for operational activities and set strategic goals
  20. Evaluate regularly the efficiency of ministries according to organizational objectives and apply improvements
  21. Evaluate overall agency performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
  22. Direct the agency in the director’s absence
  23. Other tasks as assigned by the Director
  24. Participate on the agency Leadership Team

Supervisory Responsibilities

The Director of Administration supervises the office coordinator and assists the Director in supervising the agency’s leadership staff.

  1. Financial accounting and systems management skills for multiple reporting entities
  2. Practical general business-management knowledge
  3. Ability to effectively manage internal controls in a multi-faceted service environment
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
  5. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and anti-racism work
  6. Proficiency in computerized accounting and database software
  7. Willingness to travel, both within North America and internationally
  8. Membership in a Christian church and agreement with the doctrine of the CRC signified by signing the Covenant for Office-bearers in the CRC or a comparable document prepared by the CRCNA.
  9. Familiarity with the work and ministries of the Christian Reformed Church through its agencies and institutions a plus
  10. Commitment to the mission and values of the church and the agencies

Additional Information

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred
  2. Minimum of 5 years senior financial-management experience required
  3. Cross-cultural experience preferred
