Communications Specialist

Resonate Global Mission, a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) has a full-time (40 hrs/wk) opening for a Communications Specialist in our Grand Rapids, Michigan offices. This position will research, write, edit and manage communications projects that inspire, educate, and motivate the agency’s stakeholders to greater involvement in ministry to see communities of disciples everywhere participating in God’s mission by faithfully proclaiming and living out the good news of Jesus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following

1. Research, interview, write, and source photos for articles and stories for agency and denominational publications.
2. Copy edit and provide feedback on stories and materials produced by other members of the communications team, office staff, missionaries, and ministry leaders. 
3. Write copy for brochures, the agency website, bulletin announcements, and other channels of communication.
4. Be an active participant on the communications team and contribute towards the creation and execution of an annual strategic communications plan.
5. Read prayer letters, ministry updates, and quarterly reports that are submitted by missionaries and ministry leaders, flagging content that may be appropriate for communications purposes.
6. Mentor missionaries in writing descriptive, engaging prayer letters so they can improve their connection with supporters.
7. Ensure communication pieces reflect Resonate Global Mission core values and brand.
8. Relate collaboratively with agency staff assisting them in meeting their communications needs.
9. Work collaboratively with denominational staff to create compelling communications pieces.
10. Maintain and generate content for the agency website and social media channels.
11. All other duties as assigned by supervisor.

2. A love of language with demonstrated advanced writing skills and a thorough knowledge of the English language, correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and general Business English.
3. Disciplined, self-motivated work style, proactive with demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
4. Cooperative, flexible, and adaptable team player with good interpersonal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to accomplish work goals through collaboration.
5. Demonstrated commitment to promote a work environment and respectful relationships that value diversity and equality.
6. Working knowledge of Microsoft office, Google G-Suite, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, or similar software.
7. Knowledge of the Reformed faith/tradition and knowledge of the Christian Reformed Church in North America constituency a definite asset.

1. Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, marketing, or related field.
2. Minimum of two years of work experience in communications, writing or marketing.
3. Experience working cross-culturally an asset.
