  • Overview

    Ministry Support Services, a ministry of the Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA) has a full-time (40 hrs/wk) opening for a Communications Specialist in our Grand Rapids, Michigan offices.  This position will provide communication support to the Congregational Services ministries and marketing support for Faith Alive products.

    Responsibilities

    Provide communication support to Congregational Services ministries, including:

    1. Coordinate communication projects including regular enewsletters, website updates, social media posts, announcements, advertisements, and event-related communication.
    2. Write content for a variety of audiences and communication channels.
    3. Write content for fundraising communication, including direct mail.
    4. In collaboration with team members, develop and evaluate communication strategies.
    5. Collaborate with other departments including design, editorial, and production.
    6. Collaborate with other communication staff.

     

    Provide marketing support for Faith Alive products, including:

    1. Coordinate marketing-related email communication and social media posts.
    2. Assist in the development of promotional materials such as the catalog and order enclosures.
    3. Assist in curriculum marketing efforts, including customer retention and acquisition campaigns.
    4. Coordinate Faith Alive product exhibits, including display materials and shipments. Occasionally staff conference booths, and answer questions about Faith Alive products.
    5. Track promotional expenses and inventory of marketing/exhibit materials.
    6. Run monthly reports (e.g. web traffic, expenses, social media engagement).
    7. Provide support for other CRCNA communication projects as assigned.
    8. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    1. Able to support the mission, vision, and values of the CRCNA.
    2. Ability to plan and execute marketing and communication projects in alignment with campaign goals and with an understanding of customers' viewpoints and needs.
    3. Ability to keep track of, organize, and schedule tasks. Excellent follow-through. Ability to set priorities and effectively manage one’s own time.
    4. Possess excellent attention to detail.
    5. Possess excellent communication skills (orally and in writing).
    6. Possess excellent interpersonal skills in working with both team members and outside contacts.
    7. Demostrated experience in using the web-based tools, preferably in a marketing context.
    8. Understanding of the Reformed faith and ability to articulate its basic distinctives. Experience with local church ministries (as a leader or participant) is an asset.

    Additional Information

    1. College degree in marketing, communications or related field.
    2. At least one year of professional marketing experience is preferred.
