  • Overview

    The Christian Reformed Church in North America (CRCNA), has a full-time 40 hrs/wk opening for a Senior Finance Manager in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position will manage the financial business of Resonate Global Mission, and Accounts Receivables, in accordance with approved plans and budget. Supervise and give guidance to specific accounting functions in the Finance Services department.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES may include the following:

    1. Provide financial leadership to assigned agency, work group, or benefit plan.
      a. Participate in agency financial and budget decisions.
      b. Provide financial analysis and advice.
      c. Prepare and interpret monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for the agency director, staff and board members.
      d. Advise the agency in the creation of a financially sound annual budget.
      e. Prepare useful financial reports for the agency management, board, and staff, including year-end analysis of cost and revenue compared to budget.
    2. Implement and ensure compliance with appropriate accounting and financial controls.
      a. Review all payments and expense reimbursements made by the agency.
      b. Review financial records, grants, restricted gifts, inventory valuation, and expense reporting for proper treatment.
      c. Ensure the completion of a clean audit/review for the agency finances. Provide auditors with complete and accurate financial statement and supporting information.
      d. Plan, implement, and update approved financial policies and procedures.
    3. Provide financial systems management and support for the financial accounting software.
      a. Manage the accounting system installation, access/security, use, and maintenance.
      b. Evaluate and implement financial information systems.
      c. Optimize the use of the accounting software for all three North American offices by troubleshooting and resolving software issues, performing system maintenance, etc.
      d. Act as needed as a liaison with the IT department and resellers on projects impacting financial systems.
    4. Perform various functions supporting the mission of the CRCNA.
      a. Prepare ministry-share reports according to schedule for all churches, classis treasurers, and BOT members.
      b. Respond to church inquiries regarding general financial questions.
      c. Provide back-up for the Controller of the daily cash management process as needed.

    Qualifications

    1. Financial accounting and systems management skills for multiple reporting entities.
    2. Practical general business management knowledge.
    3. Ability to effectively manage internal control in a multi-faceted service environment.
    4. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
    5. Proficiency in computerized accounting software.
    6. Membership in the Christian Reformed Church preferred.
    7. Familiar with the work and ministries of the Christian Reformed Church through its agencies and institutions.
    8. Commitment to the mission of the church and the agencies.

    Additional Information

    1. Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance, with an advanced degree preferred.
    2. CPA certification preferred.
    3. At least 5 years senior accounting experience.
